This post was written before Apple's announcement, from supply-chain leaks. The leaks were close on the mood and wrong on the names. Apple announced the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max on 9 September 2026, and here is the real palette.

Chat on WhatsAppTwo things the leaks got wrong. There is no Dark Cherry and no Light Blue: the names are Burgundy and Glacier. And Cosmic Orange is discontinued, which matters if you were waiting to buy the iPhone 17 Pro Max in it.
The other correction is about the material. The iPhone 18 Pro is an aluminium unibody carried over from the 17 Pro, not the PVD-coated titanium the leaks described. That changes how the finishes wear, which is the part of this post worth reading.
How each finish actually behaves
Burgundy is the one people will notice, and the one with the shortest window of being special. Hero colours draw a premium in the first sixty days and then stop being a talking point. If you carry the phone without a case, it is the head turner. If you keep it in a folio, you are paying attention tax for a colour nobody sees.
Glacier is the practical choice. Light finishes hide the fine scratching that collects around the camera plateau and the edges, because there is no dark anodised layer for a nick to cut through and expose bare metal underneath. If smudge marks bother you, this is the one.
Black looks immaculate out of the box and is the least forgiving over twelve months. Dark anodised aluminium shows edge rub where a hard plastic case traps grit against the frame, and it shows wear around the USB-C port from aggressive cable plugging. A soft case and a braided cable solve both.
Silver is the longevity pick. A bump or a pocket nick on a silver frame does not reveal a contrasting raw edge, because the frame underneath is already close to the finish on top. Two years later a silver unit routinely grades higher in a diagnostic trade-in than the same phone in a dark colour with the same usage.
Which colour holds its value in Nigeria
We inspect and handle iPhones every month in the Ikeja workshop, and the pattern across five generations is consistent. Hero colours spike in demand during launch quarter and neutral tones sell faster eighteen to twenty-four months later, when the phone is being traded rather than shown off. Deep Purple and Desert Titanium both did this. Burgundy will do it too.
So the choice splits on how long you intend to keep the phone. Upgrading every cycle and trading in each time: take Silver or Glacier. Keeping it for three or four years until it stops being worth trading: take whichever one you like looking at, because the resale difference stops mattering at that horizon.

What about the foldable?

What about the regular iPhone 18?
It does not exist yet. Apple split the launch: the Pro models and the Duo shipped in September 2026, and the standard iPhone 18, the iPhone 18e and a second-generation iPhone Air are scheduled for spring 2027. What the colours cost in Nigeria
The finish does not change the price. At Ziggatech in Ikeja, the iPhone 18 Pro 256GB is from ₦2,250,000 and the iPhone 18 Pro Max 256GB from ₦2,550,000, to pre-order, with Lagos delivery and Ikeja pickup from 26 October. If you want the most phone per naira rather than the newest colour, the previous generation is where to look.
