Every year the Pixel review says the same thing: the best camera software and the smartest Android, held back by Google's own chip. The Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL keep that pattern, and this year both sides of it are stronger.
Android Authority gave it an Editor's Choice award and called it "an imperfect Android phone that's simultaneously a joy to use". Android Central titled its review "It didn't have to come to this" and found it hard to recommend. MKBHD called his "Poker Face". Here's how those verdicts fit together, and what they mean if you're buying in Nigeria.

The Camera: Where the Pixel Still Wins
The biggest hardware upgrade is the 48MP 5x telephoto, which has a larger sensor that takes in 30% more light than the Pixel 10 Pro's. Android Authority's reviewer shot so much at 5x to 10x that they said they almost preferred it to the main camera. Portrait mode now works at 5x as well.
Low light is faster too. Google says instant Night Sight captures up to 4.5 times faster, which matters when you're shooting people at an owambe or a dim restaurant and they won't hold still. The new Camera Looks let you set colour and contrast before you shoot, and reviewers found them fun. Pixel photos still look more true to life than Samsung's, with less of the over-bright processing.
If you post for a living, or you're the person everyone hands the phone to at events, this is still the Android camera to beat.
Performance: The Catch
The Tensor G6 is Google's first 2nm chip and is about 17 to 21% faster than last year's. That still leaves it far behind. In Android Authority's tests it scored 37% lower in single-core and 52% lower in multi-core than the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in the Galaxy S26 Ultra. In graphics it was up to 58% slower.
What that means in practice: daily use is smooth. Apps open quickly, scrolling is fluid, and Call of Duty: Mobile ran well at high settings in Android Authority's testing. The gap shows in long, heavy games and video exports, and in how the phone will hold up in four or five years. A bigger vapor chamber keeps it cool, and reviewers didn't report heat problems in normal use.
The RAM is a sore point. The 256GB Pixel 11 Pro drops to 12GB of RAM, from 16GB last year, while the price rose by $100. Only the 512GB and 1TB versions keep 16GB. For a phone sold on its AI features, reviewers found that hard to justify.
Battery and Charging
Battery life is steady rather than exciting. The Pro has a 4,850 mAh cell and the Pro XL 5,115 mAh. Android Authority got between four and a half and six hours of screen-on time from the Pro, usually with about 20% left at bedtime, a bit better than the Pixel 10 Pro.
Charging is the weak spot. A full charge took 86 minutes on the Pro and 64 minutes on the Pro XL, against about 42 minutes for the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Full speed also needs a specific charger that supports 21V PPS, and a 67W charger topped out at 25W in testing. When power is unpredictable and you charge in short windows, that's a real disadvantage. If you buy a Pixel 11, buy the right charger with it, and a power bank.
One real improvement: a new MediaTek modem. Android Authority found it holds on to 5G longer, downloads faster and uses less battery on 5G than older Pixels. Anyone who has watched their Pixel lose signal in a Lagos building will notice.
What You Get That Other Phones Don't

- Spam call filtering that Android Authority rated the best on any Android phone. Some Pixel call features only work in selected countries, so ask us before you buy it for one feature in particular.

- A tougher screen. Google says the new coating doubles scratch resistance, and after three weeks without a case or protector, Android Authority couldn't find a mark on it.
Pixel 11 Pro or Pro XL?
Same cameras and chip. The Pro XL has a 6.8-inch screen against the Pro's 6.3-inch, a bigger 5,115 mAh battery, and faster 45W charging, which fills it about 20 minutes quicker. If charging speed worries you, the XL is the better Pixel for Nigeria, and it's worth the extra $200.
Should You Buy the Pixel 11 Pro?
Buy it if the camera and software are why you use a Pixel. It's the best Pixel yet for photos, especially at zoom.
Buy a Pixel 10 Pro instead if you want most of the same experience for much less. Battery tests show the two are close, and the 10 Pro has 16GB of RAM. It's in stock brand new at ₦1,148,800.
